The winner had to show demonstrated commercial success and customer satisfaction through means including excellent customer care, design quality, functionality and technical innovation. The award went to Avalara. Avalara provides cloud-based tax and compliance systems. Its integration with Xero helps customers navigate different tax jurisdictions globally.

App partner of the year: Hubdoc

This award winner needed to provide a best-in-class customer experience for their users through stellar customer care, beautiful design, top build quality, thorough functionality and real technical innovation. Award winner Hubdoc provides users with a secure hub for all their sensitive documents, including online bills and bank statements. Hubdoc pulls the documents, and the key data is entered into Xero. Transactions are automatically matched with the bank feed in Xero. Hubdoc proved very popular with Xerocon attendees — its representatives received a large cheer when they accepted the award.

Xero evangelist 2016: Amanda Aguillard

The winner had to demonstrate expertise in Xero and the accounting and small business industries, while exemplifying Xero’s core values as a presenter and showing a willingness to go above and beyond. The award went to Amanda Aguillard of Aguillard Accounting. As a Xero speaker and writer, in addition to running her own practice, she has been helping onboard practitioners to Xero through webinars and in-person sessions.

The 100% Xero award goes to an accounting practice that is 100 percent run on Xero all while using the ecosystem to deliver value to their customers. This year’s winner was LiveCA LLP. The firm is Canada’s first Xero platinum partner. With 100 percent of their clients on Xero, 100 percent of LiveCA LLP’s employees work virtually serving clients all across the country.

With a team of over 20 professionals, the firm is led by a father-son duo. The practice uses Xero to provide their clients with proactive advisory services.

This year’s honors for most valued professional went to Jay Kimelman of The Digital CPA. Kimelman was recognized for his championship of cloud accounting, and he was described as an outstanding advocate for cloud accounting practices everywhere.
