App of the Week: Google Wallet/Android Pay

As purchasing becomes a more mobile activity, online payment providers are tailoring their apps to better service smartphone users.

The Google Wallet app was recently relaunched to compete in this mobile-first environment, where apps like Venmo and Square have made the transfer of money a simple and sleek experience.

The new Google Wallet accomplishes this need, enabling users to send and request money on iOS devices by connecting a U.S. debit card or bank account. And with the Google Wallet Card, users can make purchases wherever Debit MasterCard is accepted.

For Android users, Google also unveiled Android Pay, which will replace the old version of Google Wallet as the payments solution built specifically in that operating system and to work with other Android apps.
