Microsoft Announces New Dynamics AX Release

Microsoft announced a new release of its flagship ERP solution Microsoft Dynamics AX, to be generally available in the first quarter of 2016.

Built for the cloud, the new release of the enterprise-class business application will be available for public preview to customers and partners in early December.

Microsoft also unveiled a new, transparent subscription pricing model for the solution.

“Our ambition to build the intelligent cloud comes to life with apps optimized for modern business, like Dynamics AX,” stated Scott Guthrie, executive vice president, Microsoft Cloud and Enterprise. “When you combine the hyperscale, enterprise-grade and hybrid-cloud capabilities of Microsoft Azure with the real-time insights and intuitive user experience of Dynamics AX, organizations and individuals are empowered to transform their business operations.”

Dynamics AX includes continuous management services, so the software can quickly adapt to an organization’s needs, and a user experience similar to Microsoft Office. The solution also offers a deep integration between Dynamics AX, Dynamics CRM and Office 365, providing analytics powered by Azure Machine Learning and the ability to visualize data through Power BI, embedded in the application.

Dynamics AX also offers a fully browser-based, new HTML5 client so users can access the solution across platforms and devices. The new interface is modern and touch-enabled, based on usability analysis.

The new release also includes enhancements to Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services, an Azure-based service that allows for turnkey deployment with prebuilt, industry-specific solutions available in the Azure Marketplace and automated setup on Azure, so customers can deploy faster and with higher quality.
