ASWA ascends faulty career ladder in new report

February 1, 2011

The American Society of Women Accountants issued its first special report, titled “Missing the Top Rung on the Career Ladder,” which examines the education and career options for women at every professional level.

Women make up 43 percent of new hires in public accounting firms, yet only 17.4 percent are partners, according to ASWA.

The report includes successful professional strategies while discussing factors like flexibility in the workplace, taking time off and entrepreneurship.

“I am very excited that ASWA can share the extensive knowledge and experience of our membership through this special report,” said ASWA National President Vivian Moller. “It’s an extension of ASWA’s mission to discuss and analyze what is preventing women from filling the top positions in the accounting and finance field.”
