CPAs on Tour: The Disruptive (and Eruptive) Power of Change

October 1, 2013

Location: A landscape of dark lava flows and volcanic cinders abruptly gives way to the gash of Rainbow Canyon below.

Watch to hear about the steady momentum and power of the next generation of change and how it’s creating a force within today’s "new" firm.

Will the energy erupt to create a beautiful new landscape...or will practitioners get lost within the eruptions? Do you have an idea of how we can capture and guide this explosive energy?

If I understand you correctly you are speaking of a situation where the older CPA is ready to retire and there is not an agreement within the lower ranks what the firm will look like when the older CPA is gone. Maybe there are three younger CPA's with differently views ready to try out their new ideas and if they all try them out it could mean chaos, or as you refer to it, an eruption.

My suggestion is to have the three CPA's agree to have an innovative team come to listen to their ideals and their goals and help them make a strategy for smoothly moving forward. The innovative team must also have the capability of looking at the firm as it is currently functioning and seeing how to mesh the reality with the new dream. There would be so many sides to this...clients, technology, office flow, employee relations, ....

The more I brainstorm about this the more I want to be part of an innovative team that works with these firms trying to have a controlled eruption.
