Murray State unveils new accounting center

It pays to be an accounting major at Murray State University in Kentucky, as Oct. 10 saw the dedication of the new 5,700 sq. foot Dr. Tim Miller Center for Accounting Education - a suite for accounting students to work and meet with their peers outside of class during the academic year.

The Miller Center was constructed in two years on a budget of approximately $600,000. Located on the first floor of the Business Building South, the Center is dedicated to Dr. Tim Miller, longtime accounting department faculty member, 12th University president, and president emeritus.

“We are trying to renovate in strategic steps to further showcase that the Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business is in fact a state of the art, world-class business school, with excellent faculty and staff who are dedicated to educating and placing into the workforce our fantastic students,” said Tim Todd, dean of the Arthur J. Bauernfeind College, in a piece on TheNews.org.

The Center features numerous work areas full of tables and chairs, computers and printers, and a conference room for groups of students to meet. Accounting faculty are often in the Center as well, making it easy for students to communicate and work with their professors.
