Dr. Yvonne Hinson named AICPA's Academic in Residence

The AICPA announced last week that Dr. Yvonne Hinson has been named the Institute's Academic in Residence.

The role will see Dr. Hinson provide leadership for the AICPA’s initiatives to engage with and support university accounting educators, focused on building a strong pipeline of professional and diverse students to continue to enter the CPA profession. Hinson will also look to create resources for accounting faculty, provide strategic direction for academic relations, and be a liaison to the academic community.

“Accounting faculty play a crucial role in the accounting ecosystem, educating and influencing the next generation of CPAs, and the AICPA is committed to supporting educators and strengthening the connection between practitioners and academics,” stated Joanne Fiore, vice president, professional media, pathways and inclusion. “Yvonne’s experience in the classroom and the academic arena make her a great asset to the profession and having her on board will help deepen the Institute’s connection with educators and students.”

Before joining the AICPA, Hinson worked as an associate professor at Wake Forest University. During her time at Wake Forest, she served as dean of the University’s Charlotte programs, director of accountancy and director of graduate studies. Prior to her time at Wake Forest, she attended the University of Tennessee where she also served as a graduate teaching and research assistant. She has published a number of scholarly articles and given dozens of presentations on accounting and academic topics.
