EY's 2016 'Connect Day' will see 23,000 professionals volunteer across the globe

This Friday, Sept. 30, approximately 23,000EYprofessionals around the world will volunteer as part of the firm'sConnect Day.The annual day of service will see participants in the U.S., Canada, Israel, Mexico, and Central/South America help non-profits, particularly those supporting entrepreneurs, education, and equality in the workforce.

Founded in 2010, EY Connect Day has seen more than 60,000 volunteers over the last six years. Notably, this year’s class represents a 37% increase from last year's.

“EY Connect Day is a time to boldly celebrate our purpose to build a better working world,” stated Deborah Holmes, EY Americas corporate responsibility leader. “Whether it’s teaching job skills to students alongside the United Way or helping the next generation of entrepreneurs through the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), EY volunteers not only strengthen their communities but also their professional growth by developing leadership skills, building teams, and increasing engagement with the firm.”

This year's volunteer activities will include teaching financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills to elementary and middle school students, introducing them to finance and career explorations at an early age.

EY Connect Day participants will share their experiences on social media channels using the hashtags #EYConnectDay and #BetterWorkingWorld.
