Illinois CPA Society announces 2015 'Young Professionals Leadership Conference'

The Illinois CPA Society’s announced this year’s events on Tuesday for their Young Professionals Leadership Conference, hosted June 5, and subsequent summer workshop series. The annual Conference, created in 2012, positions the next generation of finance and accounting professionals for future success.

This year's Conference will look to focus on strategies to develop “clout-ability”—confidence, credibility, and integrity in personal and professional values and behaviors.

Keynote speaker and former “The Apprentice” winner andNew York Timesbestselling author, Bill Rancic, will offer a first-hand account of the importance of everyday choices in personal and professional lives. The Integrity Factor panel, featuring a clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, director of finance for the Chicago Bulls, and a director at Crowe Horwath and former FBI agent, will discuss why trust and reputation matter in any professional setting and how to gain the skills to reinforce integrity.  

The conference also features a special presentation, "The Influential You," by the Office Managing Partner at Ernst & Young, where attendees will learn how to leverage their credibility to sell their ideas, generate a group consensus, and build a high-performing team. The conference will conclude with a performance byimprove it!—a high-energy improv group that develops corporate workshops to improve presentation skills, collaboration and communication.

“Our efforts to engage young professionals—to champion the value of the CPA credential and communicate what’s expected of the profession in years to come—are an ongoing commitment,” stated Todd Shapiro, president/CEO of the Illinois CPA Society. “Our Young Professionals Group creates connections and develops technical and soft-skills with events and programs throughout the year so they can build their personal brand within the CPA profession.”

The follow-up summer workshop series builds upon the clout and credibility concepts espoused during the June 5 conference. Two workshops, Effective Communication and Presentation Skills are facilitated byimprove it!and are available in Chicago and Oak Brook, IL. A final workshop, StrengthsFinder: Leveraging your Strengths for Success, features a personal assessment test which will outline your strengths and help you focus on developing your skill-set to enhance your career.

The Conference will be Hosted at the Mid-America Club, AON Center, Chicago, IL from 8:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., the Young Professionals Leadership Conference is open to members and non-members.
