Jeffrey Porter honored with AICPA's 2016 Arthur J. Dixon Memorial Award

TheAICPAannounced on Wednesday that Jeffrey Porter, founder and owner ofPorter & Associatesin Huntington, W.Va., is the 2016 recipient of the Arthur J. Dixon Memorial Award - the highest honor in the accounting profession's tax area.

The award was presented earlier today at the AICPA Fall Tax Division Meeting in Washington, D.C. byEdward Karl, AICPA vice president of taxation. 

Established in 1981, the annual award honors Arthur J. Dixon, chairman of the AICPA's Tax Executive Committee from 1977 to 1980. Dixon was notable for his contributions to both the profession and the Institute's Tax Division, and the award looks to honor similar CPAs in the taxation field.

Alongside his firm duties, Porter is a regular lecturer and instructor of continuing education courses for state CPA societies, local and national firms, and the AICPA National Tax Conference. Porter also currently serves on the AICPA’s Board of Directors, its Governing Council, and as chair of the AICPA Tax Reform Task Force. 

Amongst his past achievements, Porter served as chair of the AICPA Tax Executive Committee, testified at House and Senate hearings, and served as chair of the Tax Practice Management Committee and the Tax Education Committee. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Marshall University and a Masters of Taxation from The University of Tulsa.
