Syracuse U.'s Whitman School debuts online MS in Accounting course

Syracuse University's Martin J. Whitman School of Management, in conjunction with 2U, Inc., has announced theAccounting@Syracuse program- an online Master of Science in Professional Accounting course that acts as an offshoot of the existingMBA@Syracuse program.

2U, a cloud-based software-as-a-service solutions provider for nonprofit colleges and universities, will combine Syracuse University's accounting curriculum with 2U's online learning platform and technology-enabled services to deliver high-quality education to online students everywhere.

Accounting@Syracuse will include live weekly, face-to-face sessions taught by Syracuse University professors in small, seminar-style classes. Courses will feature videos, quizzes, learning modules and other interactive multimedia, developed by Whitman faculty and 2U's instructional designers. Faculty and students will also be able to access the Accounting@Syracuse learning platform and coursework on mobile apps, both online and off.

"Accounting professionals are in demand across nearly all industries and business environments, and the newly enhanced Accounting@Syracuse offering further ensures that the Whitman school will remain in the forefront of enabling students to pursue these rewarding career opportunities," said Kenneth A. Kavajecz, dean of the Martin J. Whitman School of Management, in a statement. "By partnering with 2U, we will further enhance the online learning experience and access to a high-quality academic offering for a range of accounting and business professionals regardless of where they are located." 

Those with a bachelor's degree in accounting will complete a 30-credit sequence for the program, while students who hold a bachelor's in business will complete a 42-credit sequence. Students new to accounting must complete a 48-credit sequence.
