IRS Has Answers on Uncertain Tax Positions

The Internal Revenue Service has put up a Web page with answers to frequently asked questions about Schedule UTP, the new form that requires large corporations to disclose information about their uncertain tax positions.

The FAQ page includes information on the IRS’s “policy of restraint,” including whether that policy applies to certain documents during the appeals process. Apparently, IRS officials can restrain themselves when it comes to requesting some documents, but curiosity sometimes gets the better of them.
