FASB, GASB and ISAB elect board members; RKL appoints four service line leaders; and other recent hires, promotions and personnel news from firms across the country.

CONNECTICUT

The Financial Accounting Standards Board, Norwalk, appointed five members to its Investor Advisory Committee: Todd Castagano, executive director/equity research analyst at Morgan Stanley; Trevor Harris, professor of professional practice accounting at Columbia Business School; Katherine Hensel, private investor; Shripad Joshi, senior director at S&P Global Ratings; and Steven Yang, investment analyst at Schroeders.

The Board of Trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation also announced the reappointment of veteran governmental auditor James Brown to a second term on the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, and the appointment of Kristopher Knight, Delaware’s deputy secretary of state and director of the state’s Division of Corporations, to a five-year term on the GASB.

FLORIDA

Tony Argiz, chairman and CEO of MBAF, was named Executive of the Year during the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Top Entrepreneurial luncheon Feb. 16, an award presented annually to a local business leader who has demonstrated vision and leadership. In other firm news, Adam Spiegel was named managing principal of the Fort Lauderdale office and Bonny Rock was appointed director in the tax & accounting department, also in Fort Lauderdale.

Abigail Andrews, a graduate of Michigan State University, was named the winner of a $1,000 scholarship from Internal Auditor magazine, Lake Mary, after her essay was chosen as the final of six $1,000 scholarships awarded in the first year of the magazine’s contest.

INDIANA

Jack Hiatt was hired as staff accountant in the tax services department of Sponsel CPA Group, Indianapolis.

LONDON

Martin Edelmann, Gary Kabureck, Chungwoo Suh and Mary Tokar were reappointed to serve a second term on the International Accounting Standards Board, as announced by the trustees of the IFRS Foundation.

LOUISIANA

Freddy Smith, leader of the governmental niche team of Postlethwaite & Netterville, Baton Rouge, earned the American Institute of CPAs Advanced Single Audit Certificate.

Brad Hoffman, partner at DeLeon & Stang CPAs and Advisors, Gaithersburg, will serve on the Governmental Contractors Committee for Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce. The firm also announced that staff accountant Wilder Chacon was named treasurer of The Miracle League of Montgomery County.

Scott Wragg was appointed senior managing director of CBIZ Tofias, the New England division of CBIZ in Boston. Wragg is succeeding Tracy Gallagher, who is retiring after 32 years with the company, including nearly 20 years as senior managing director of CBIZ Tofias.

RKL named four partners to service line leadership positions. Steven Fisher was named audit services group leader, Robert Gratalo was named tax services group leader, Bethany Novis was named business consulting services group leader, and James Ostrowski was named small business services group leader.

Eide Bailly, Fargo, announced three appointments to its board of directors: Tom Ritchie, partner in the Tulsa office, was elected chairman of the board for a one-year term; Laura Srsich, partner in the Denver office was elected as vice chair of the board; and Darrell Lingle, partner in the Bismark, N.D., office was elected to a three-year term on the board of directors.
