Business, Accounting Top Online Degree Searches

Those who are pursuing Bachelor's and Master's degrees online are most interested in business administration and accounting, according to a survey.

In a poll conducted by EducationDynamics — an education marketing services concern — that measured Internet degree search behavior, the top five most searched for degrees are: business administration, accounting, management, human resources and finance.

According to the survey, 31 percent of people searching for degree programs are doing so to change careers, while 22 percent are searching for degrees to advance within their current job. Forty-two percent of visitor to EducationDynamics’ sites looking for a degree were between the ages of 30 and 44.

“The increased incidence of illegal and unethical accounting practices, combined with a sweeping overhaul of financial regulations in Congress, has resulted in a perfect storm of opportunity for students and employees that are looking to secure degrees in high-demand areas such as accounting and finance,” said EducationDynamics CEO Steve Isaac.
