HSMC Companies of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Orizon CPAs of Omaha, Neb., have officially merged.

The two will now operate under the new name HSMC Orizon LLC.

The merger allowed the firms to branch out in the Kansas City and Omaha metropolitan area. The new firm, which has approximately $5.5 million in annual revenue, currently has 43 professionals and administrative staff.

Gene Garrelts has picked up the responsibilities of managing partner and CEO at the newly adjoined firm.

Gary Hawkins will take on the title of chairman of the board of directors and partner in charge of the firm’s tax and technology services. The firm also tapped Jodi Rinne to serve as partner in charge of accounting and assurance services.

I think the other beneficiary will be businesses and high net worth individuals in the greater Kansas City and Omaha markets who are looking for a one stop solution for their business and financial needs."
