Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress has reportedly paid off a tax lien for $98,064.76 from the Internal Revenue Service.
The IRS filed the tax lien against the NFL player and his wife last year for unpaid taxes dating back to 2007 and 2009, according to
Burress was released from prison in June 2011 after serving a two-year sentence. He pleaded guilty in 2009 to weapons charges after he accidentally shot himself in the leg during a visit to a New York City nightclub in November 2008. The Glock pistol he was carrying in the waistband of his pants began sliding down his leg and, while trying to retrieve it, he unintentionally shot himself.
Following his release from prison, Burress spent a year playing for the New York Jets and was re-signed to his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, last November after two other Steelers were injured.
