Nominations Open for Top 10 Public Accounting Professionals

A group calling itself the National Academy of Public Accounting Professionals is now accepting nominations for the 2015 "Top 10 Public Accounting Professionals" awards in each state.

NAPAP, which appears to be a relatively new organization, said it is accepting nominations for its newly established "Top 10 Public Accounting Professional Rising Stars" awards, which will recognize outstanding accountants with less than 15 years of experience.

“In 2015, we look forward to distinguishing not only the top ten public accounting professionals in each state, but also the top ten rising stars,” NAPAP executive director Paul Witte said in a statement. "We encourage accountants to nominate those peers who have clearly mastered their craft, and we also encourage clients who've had extremely positive experiences with their accountants to acknowledge their satisfaction with a nomination.”

The National Academy of Public Accounting Professionals hopes to recognize and distinguish the Top 10 Public Accounting Professionals in each state. The accountants who make the NAPAP "Top 10" list are supposed to demonstrate an extensive amount of knowledge, skill, experience and success in the field of accounting. To achieve the award, accountants must first be nominated by industry peers or satisfied clients. The nominees are reviewed by the NAPAP research committee, which evaluates each nominee's credentials against the award criteria, and compiles a list of finalists from which the NAPAP Board of Governors selects the Top 10. Selection criteria include education, years of experience, areas of expertise, certifications, publications, awards, leadership and client satisfaction.

Nominations can be submitted via the NAPAP website at www.napapweb.org.
