FBI Raids Accounting Firm

The Federal Bureau of Investigation raided the offices of a Connecticut accounting firm Tuesday and seized documents in connection with a fraud complaint.

Approximately 15 to 20 FBI agents entered the premises of the firm, known as McNamee & Co., in Wallingford, Conn. The owner of the firm, Sean McNamee, told the Meriden Record-Journal that the agents were investigating a complaint made against one of his associates and they had a warrant for his floor.

A spokesperson for the FBI’s New Haven office said the agents were investigating a fraud complaint. The police also found a small quantity of unidentified drugs in the same building as the accounting firm, which contains another accounting firm along with several other businesses.

The Connecticut State Board of Accountancy ordered McNamee to pay penalties of nearly $4,000 and take training and ethics courses back in 2012, according to the New Haven Register.

The firm was closed Thursday for the holiday weekend and could not be reached for comment.
