Jim Proppe has been elected to serve as the next managing partner of Top 15 Firm Plante Moran, starting July 1, 2017.
Proppe succeeds Gordon Krater, who will step down after completing two four-year terms.

That is certainly his legacy, and I’m grateful to have the privilege to carry on this tradition of leadership that will further benefit our firm, clients and staff.”
“One of my first roles as managing partner was to begin identifying potential successors, and it was clear we had several qualified candidates,” Krater said in a statement. “But I knew early on that Jim was a natural leader. He has a great ability to continuously innovate and respond to the changing needs of clients and staff. He’s also deeply rooted in Plante Moran’s culture and shares our vision to be a caring, professional firm deeply committed to our clients' success.”
Proppe joined the firm in 1984, after graduating from the University of Michigan, and has served as a group managing partner for the past 12 years. He currently leads client service, growth and people development for Plante’s industry-focused practice areas.
In addition, he played an important role in creating several new service offerings, and in developing its offices in Shanghai, Monterey, and Mumbai.
