Half of Big Four lands on Top Internships list

Two Big Four firms made employer ranking website Vault.com’s list for the Top 10 Internships for 2012, released Wednesday.

Deloitte and KPMG were not only ranked in the general top 10, but made the list of the Top Internships with the Best Perks.

The rankings are based on two distinct surveys for which the 130 participating companies and nonprofits were asked to provide an overview of their internship programs, including logistics, hiring criteria and application requirements. The companies were also asked to distribute an anonymous intern experience survey to current and former interns that asks questions about day-to-day responsibilities, how they rated quality of life factors, and whether they would recommend the internship to a friend.

Vault.com editors then selected the final list based on ratings in formal training, on-the-job training, mentorship, insight into the industry and future career paths, meaningful assignments, networking opportunities, access to senior management, social events, compensation and prestige of the internship sponsor.

For the Best Perks ranking, Vault weighed intern experience survey scores relating to perks, social events, and seminars, lectures and workshops.
