Barry D. Johnson

Barry is a Shareholder at SettlePou where he heads the firm’s consumer finance department. Barry’s practice involves representing consumer lenders, banks, and mortgage companies. His practice includes standard default representation (foreclosure, eviction and bankruptcy matters), origination of new loans, regulatory advice and representation in other transactional matters such as the sale and purchase of mortgages and mortgage assets. Barry also represents firm clients in defensive litigation matters brought by consumers.Prior to joining SettlePou in 1997, Barry served as Vice President and General Counsel of a large nationwide mortgage company overseeing that company’s day to day legal affairs and nationwide default and litigation docket. Barry is a frequent speaker at various CLE events, primarily on issues relating to defending mortgage loan servicing companies and foreclosure matters.Barry received is BA, with distinction from Rhodes College in 1983 and his JD from Dedman School of Law (SMU) in 1986, where he was an editor of the Journal of Air Law and Commerce.
