Geoffrey S. Chatas is the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Business and Finance for The Ohio State University, where he leads all financial activities, including the oversight of a $5 billion annual budget. A financial executive with significant experience in the higher education, power, aviation, and banking sectors, Geoff has had extensive experience in multi-cultural management, having worked and lived across Europe and the United States. In September 2012, Columbus Business First recognized him twice, naming him CFO of the Year and awarding him Transaction of the Year honors for the university�s sale of $500 million worth of 100-year bonds � making Ohio State the first public university to issue century bonds.� Also in 2012, Geoff served on a Fulbright-sponsored delegation of U.S. CFOs to Germany to study lean management practices in higher education.Mr. Chatas was appointed Senior Vice President for Business and Finance and Chief Financial Officer at The Ohio State University in February 2010.� He oversees all of the fiscal activities for both the Ohio State University and the Wexner Medical Center, the university�s academic medical center.� While at Ohio State he has championed resource generation initiatives with the goal of generating revenue to be reinvested in the academic core.� He successfully negotiated a parking transaction resulting in $483 million for the university�s Long-term Investment Pool.�� This investment generated $50 million in earnings in FY 2013, approximately $20.5 million of which was immediately available for expenditure on faculty, student, arts and sustainability/transportation initiatives.� He also leads streamlining efforts which netted $30 million in procurement savings in FY 2013.�In early 2014, Mr. Chatas assumed an additional role at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center as Senior Vice President for Optimization and Integration and Medical Center Chief Transformation Officer.� In this position, Geoff serves as an internal catalyst for growth at the Medical Center, bringing the same skills he has successfully used to generate new funding streams to fuel the University's core academic mission and foster greater operating effectiveness including hospitals, centers, institutes, out-patient sites, and affiliated faculty practices.Geoff came to Ohio State from JP Morgan Asset Management where he was Managing Director for the Infrastructure Investments Group. Prior to JP Morgan, Mr. Chatas spent most of his career focused on the energy and aviation sectors.�
