Canopy announces Canopy Coworker

Practice management solutions provider Canopy launched Canopy Coworker, an AI execution layer designed to transition practices into environments where AI handles the coordination of work so professionals can focus on expertise, judgment and client relationships. It executes complex, multistep tasks across the entire Canopy platform, from autonomous client onboarding to proactive scope creep detection. It functions as a kind of connective intelligence layer across the firm's CRM, document management and billing systems in order to perform a wide variety of tasks. They include automated client onboarding that automatically triggers folder creation, questionnaire delivery and welcome sequences when a client is created. It has the ability to learn and store specific firm policies and seniority descriptions, so the AI routes work and make decisions according to the firm's own standard operating procedures. It has proactive scope creep detection that synthesizes data across billing and communications to flag "at-risk" engagements where the effective hourly rate is dropping. The product offers the ability to automatically adjust entire workflows and subtasks across the firm in response to sudden regulatory shifts or disaster declarations. It provides the ability to identify missing client documents, draft personalized follow-up messages for review, and alerts when documents have been collected. Its capacity-planning features factor in task complexity and staff skill levels to provide visibility into workloads and suggest reassignments to prevent burnout. The specific capacities are not based on static templates or workflows, but on dynamic execution. Canopy Coworker is designed to operate within the specific guardrails and permissions of each firm. It gains increased autonomy as it learns a firm's unique habits and institutional memory, but always functions as a supervised AI coworker.

Procurement

Finance and payment solutions platform Ramp announced what it referred to as a "fleet" of AI agents across its platform that work together to run the buying process. It works as a virtual procurement team responsible for sourcing vendors, running RFPs, identifying legal risks, evaluating a vendor's security posture and benchmarking prices. Every agent in the new platform is backed by anonymized pricing benchmarks and vendor data from millions of transactions on Ramp, tailored to each customer's business size, industry and needs. Employees tell Ramp what they need in plain English. The agent asks context-aware follow-up questions, pre-fills the request, and flags duplicate or out-of-policy buys before they reach an approver. A rebuilt workflow engine supports parallel approval paths, bidirectional integrations with contract lifecycle management, third party risk management and ticketing tools, and AI-driven vendor evaluations. The agents conduct custom compliance checks for security, legal and finance teams before a request reaches an approver. Every purchase is tracked from request to purchase order to payment, with natural-language querying for custom reports on outstanding POs, approval bottlenecks and budget variance. Beyond procurement workflows, the agents can also provide contract intelligence, delivering negotiation briefings that include pricing benchmarks, Okta seat usage, satisfaction signals, flagged contract terms, and a renew, renegotiate or cancel call.

Rippling rolls out automated compliance tool for SOC 2 audits

Workforce management platform Rippling announced the launch of an Automated Compliance Tool built for SOC 2 audits that, among other things, uses existing data to recommend controls, automatically collect and monitor evidence, resolve issues and manage the audit on one platform without the need for third-party tools. Users begin with an intake survey where Rippling identifies what is relevant to their company and dynamically configures the SOC 2 controls and policies. Additionally, the solution provides a library of evidence monitors that flag issues as they arise. For example, if a device is not encrypted or an employee does not complete their security training, the platform will guide the user to fix the issue with inline reminders, as opposed to simply showing an alert. Users can also perform access reviews as well as provision or de-provision apps directly from the platform. Once users have collected the required evidence, an independent CPA firm samples data to complete their SOC 2 report. Rippling guides the user through a step-by-step process to securely share evidence with their auditor and respond to requests. Users get a dedicated portal per audit, where auditors can sample from the data they approve. They can also get access to penetration testing partners who offer packages to complete any level of penetration testing.
