On the move: Firms go golfing

BDO USA has partnered with the LPGA, while Weaver has signed up a brand ambassador from the PGA; Sorren named a new CEO; a number of firms named new partner classes; and other accounting firm and personnel news.

IDAHO

Josh Tyree

Josh Tyree has been named chief executive officer of Sorren, Meridian. He was previously president of the firm; as part of a planned transition, previous CEO Michael O'Donnell will now serve as executive chairman. As CEO, Tyree will emphasize strategic direction, innovation and the development of new service offerings. Sorren was formed in May by combining 13 separate accounting firms with backing from private equity firm DFW Capital Partners.

ILLINOIS

Jenna Saint Martin

BDO USA, Chicago, has been named the Official Tax and Audit Partner of the Ladies Professional Golf Association. Together, the LPGA and BDO will collaborate on an annual business-related case study and a social content series, offering insights into the LPGA Tour and the business of sport.

MICHIGAN

KSM, Indianapolis, launched an investment banking service line with the addition of the investment banking team of Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Charter Capital Partners. Charter's Mike Brown and Mark Streekstra are joinining KSM as partners and managing directors and will lead the 13-member investment banking team, which will transition to the name KSM Corporate Finance.

NEW JERSEY

CohnReznick added three new partners: Richard Sumida has joined the firm as a national assurance partner; Richard Fuchs has rejoined the firm as an audit partner in the financial services industry practice; and Sarah Gaymon has joined as a tax partner focusing on trusts and estates services. Sumida and Fuchs will be based in New Jersey, and Gaymon in South Florida.

NEW MEXICO

Caitlin Gutierrez

Caitlin Gutierrez has been promoted to principal in the national risk advisory services practice of REDW Advisors & CPAs, in the Albuquerque office. She joined the firm in 2008, in the wealth management practice, and worked in a wide range of service areas before joining risk advisory services in 2017.

CPA Cecilia Leung has launched Rich & Sassy Wealth Strategies, New York, a strategic advisory firm that aims to help business founders with wealth and tax strategy, as well as critical decisions related to IPOs, exits and major liquidity events. Leung brings more than two decades of experience at PwC, EY, J.P. Morgan, and multiple CFO roles.

Lumsden & McCormick, Buffalo, announced a number of promotions: In administration, Stephanie Wilkinson was named a partner, Christine Proulx was promoted to marketing manager, and Izzy Folk to marketing coordinator; in audit, Patrick Swiatek was promoted to manager and Victoria Bugenhagen to senior accountant; in tax, Hayden Coll and Angela Miles were promoted to principal, Michael Anders and Jordan Meagher to manager, Amanda Scanlon, April Chambers and Olivia Mitchell to senior accountant; and in Brisbane, Ben Schuver was promoted to principal and Bryan Mangano to manager.

PKF O'Connor Davies, New York, named 10 new partners: Andrew Byrne, Jennifer Clark, Jason Geisler, Danielle Grimes, Amy Neimeister, Helen Rexwinkel, Brooke Rossi, Alberto Sinesi, Michael Trapp and Justin Warren.

TENNESSEE

Makaylah Everett

Sarah Denton has joined HHM CPAs, Chattanooga, as a director. She brings almost two decades of experience in corporate taxation, tax policy and complex regulatory matters, including as a managing director at a regional CPA firm.

The Tennessee Society of CPAs held its annual Day on the Hill event, bringing CPAs from across the state together to meet with legislators. (See our story.)

TEXAS

Weaver, Houston, announced a new brand ambassador relationship with PGA Tour professional Max Greyserman, who will serve as a brand ambassador for the firm, wearing the Weaver logo on his chest during tour events and related appearances. The firm logo will also be displayed on Greyserman's caddie's clothes.
