On the move: EFPR lowers hours requirement

New York-based EFPR Group lowered its annual hours requirement to 2,080; staff at Traphagen CPAs continued a 50-year tradition of shaving their tax season beards for charity; Your Part-Time Controller named four new regional directors; FASB added three to its Investor Advisory Board; and other firm and people news from across the profession.

CALIFORNIA

Biran Yujuico has joined AuditClub, Irvine, as vice president and senior chief auditor, a newly created role. A CPA, Yujuico previously held several leadership roles in assurance at Big Four firm PwC. In addition, CPA Sharon Gyesi recently joined the company as a senior crew member.

The Financial Accounting Standards Board added three new members to its Investor Advisory Committee:
  • John DeVita, principal and portfolio manager at Altrinsic Global Advisors;
  • John Helfst, managing director at 1919 Investment Counsel; and,
  • Minesh Patel, senior director and sector lead for U.S. leveraged finance at S&P Global Ratings.

Traphagen's Annual Beard Shaving
Celebrating last year's Beard Shaving donation
Members of Traphagen CPAs & Wealth Advisors, Oradell, will conduct their Annual Beard Shaving on April 18, shaving for the first time since the start of the year in support of Columbia Pancreas Center's Hope Ahead Campaign, which aims to increase the cure rate for people with pancreatic cancer. The firm has been holding the Annual Beard Shaving since 1970; last year, the firm raised more than $2,000 for another pancreatic cancer charity, the Lustgarten Foundation.

NEW YORK

EFPR Group CPAs, Rochester, announced that it will be changing its annual hours requirement, lowering it to 2,080 hours, well below the profession-standard 2,300. "The intent of our 2080 initiative is to demonstrate that a true balance between work and personal life can be achieved in our industry and that people don't have to leave the profession to attain that balance," said managing partner Jim Marasco.

  • Carole Melvin, formerly director for Washington, D.C., has been named regional director, serving the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic region; and,
  • Tanya Pal, formerly director for Houston, has been named regional director, serving the Southwest and West region.
