Maxene Bardwell, acting chief administrative officer for Prince George's County, was named chair of the 2025-26 board of directors of the Maryland Association of CPAs. In other association news, MACPA hosted 19 emerging leaders for its 2025 Leadership Academy held June 10-11 in Towson.

Cherry Bekaert, Raleigh, was included on Hedge Fund Alert's 2025 list of Top Hedge Fund Auditors, ranking the top CPA firms by the number of SEC-registered hedge funds audited.

OHIO

Seth Goldblum was appointed national leader of advisory services at CBIZ, Cleveland, where he has worked since 2017 and succeeds Tom Bonney.

Beverly Edge, chief operating officer, general counsel and partner at HHM CPAs, was named one of the 2025 Women of Distinction by the Greater Chattanooga community.

The Tennessee Society of CPAs honored its top members in six different categories at its 94th Annual Meeting and Convention held in Chattanooga on June 10-12. The CPA of the Year Award went to: Marty Brown, PYA; Lifetime Achievement Award: Andy Bonner Jr., Homesteader Trailers; Impact Award: Terry Rappuhn, self-employed; Women to Watch Award: Experienced Leader Marilyn Young, Belmont University, and Emerging Leader Lindsey Franks, LBMC; Emerging Leader Award: Luis Ortiz, EY; and Special Recognition Award: Thomas Booker, Whitlock & Co., and Karen Miller, Union University.
