On the move: MACPA names next board chair

CBIZ appoints next national leader of advisory services; Tennessee Society of CPAs distributes annual member awards; and more news from across the profession.

CONNECTICUT

Kask & Co. moved to a new office location at 12 National Drive in Glastonbury.

MARYLAND

Maxene Bardwell, acting chief administrative officer for Prince George's County, was named chair of the 2025-26 board of directors of the Maryland Association of CPAs. In other association news, MACPA hosted 19 emerging leaders for its 2025 Leadership Academy held June 10-11 in Towson.

MINNESOTA

Tyler Petzel

Tyler Petzel was appointed the new manufacturing segment leader at Abdo, Mankato.

Robert Hallman was hired as a partner in the international tax services group at EisnerAmper, Minneapolis.

NORTH CAROLINA

Cherry Bekaert, Raleigh, was included on Hedge Fund Alert's 2025 list of Top Hedge Fund Auditors, ranking the top CPA firms by the number of SEC-registered hedge funds audited.

OHIO

Seth Goldblum was appointed national leader of advisory services at CBIZ, Cleveland, where he has worked since 2017 and succeeds Tom Bonney.

PENNSYLVANIA

Bethany Spencer

Bethany Spencer was hired as a senior associate at Boyer & Ritter, Camp Hill, where she worked early in her career before leaving in 2021.

HBK CPAs & Consultants and HBKS Wealth Advisors announced the consolidation of their Erie-area offices into a new, expanded location at 2725 Colonial Avenue.

TENNESSEE

Beverly Edge

Beverly Edge, chief operating officer, general counsel and partner at HHM CPAs, was named one of the 2025 Women of Distinction by the Greater Chattanooga community.

The Tennessee Society of CPAs honored its top members in six different categories at its 94th Annual Meeting and Convention held in Chattanooga on June 10-12. The CPA of the Year Award went to: Marty Brown, PYA; Lifetime Achievement Award: Andy Bonner Jr., Homesteader Trailers; Impact Award: Terry Rappuhn, self-employed; Women to Watch Award: Experienced Leader Marilyn Young, Belmont University, and Emerging Leader Lindsey Franks, LBMC; Emerging Leader Award: Luis Ortiz, EY; and Special Recognition Award: Thomas Booker, Whitlock & Co., and Karen Miller, Union University.

TEXAS

Weaver promoted 15 to partner: Stephen Arredondo in state and local property tax, Sonali Bhakta in audit — energy, Liza Bowersox in valuation services, Louis Brown and Prerna Jagada in tax — private client services, Neil Brown and Kurt Lowery in tax — energy, Dan Brumwell in transaction advisory services, Filipe Costa in energy compliance services, Jacob Eye in audit — commercial, Austin Hatley in accounting advisory services, Brandon Hayes in state and local sales and use tax, T.J. Liles-Tims in forensics and litigation services, and Vache Ohanessian and Mark Ottosen in audit — financial services.

UNITED KINGDOM

John Graham

John Graham was elected the 92nd president of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, London, and he will also serve as 10th co-chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants. (Read the full story.)
