CALIFORNIA

Kathy Ryan, chair and founder of RoseRyan, Newark, was one of 14 people selected for Silicon Valley Business Journal’s C-Suite Awards, recognizing leaders who have successfully managed and innovated through the pandemic, according to the publication.

Dark Horse CPAs, Cardiff by the Sea, announced a Principal Accelerator Program to assist CPAs in building a scalable book of business at the firm. Participants go through a training program that acclimates them to the firm’s bot-enabled tech stack, and then a proprietary sales training and one-on-one coaching. After completion of the training, they begin building their book of business by fielding inquiries from prospective Dark Horse clients.

FLORIDA

The Florida Institute of CPAs, Tallahassee, announced its annual continuing professional education conference MEGA will take place virtually June 8-11. The event encompasses two conferences, State Tax and Employee Benefits, and features more than 50 live and interactive sessions. More information is available here.

GEORGIA

Windham Brannon, Atlanta, was named a Top Workplace by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for the sixth consecutive year, ranking No. 3 out of 68 companies in the midsized company category and No. 1 in the CPA firm category.

KatzAbosch, Baltimore, is asking for construction companies to participate in its peer survey covering the challenges and uncertainties in the industry. Participants can access the survey, which closes April 2, here.

Karen Nevins was hired as head of strategic growth and marketing for the transactions and turnaround advisory practice at CohnReznick, New York.

Whitley Penn, Dallas, ranked No. 4 on the Dallas Business Journal’s North Texas Accounting Firms list, a ranking based on the number of local CPAs in 2020. In other firm news, risk advisory services partner John Williamson earned the Certified Information Technology Professional credential from the American Institute of CPAs.

Thomson Reuters, Dallas, has partnered with Armanino to combine Thomson Reuters’ content and technology with the CPA firm’s experts in sales and use tax to solve go-to-market problems for small to midsized businesses

HLB, London, announced global revenues of $3.28 billion, a 12 percent growth increase from the previous year.

VIRGINIA

Brad Lester, a senior associate at Brown Edwards, Roanoke, was selected as a winner of the 2021 Virginia Society of CPAs’ Top 5 Under 35 Award, recognizing young VSCPA members who have shown excellence in chapter accomplishment, professional achievement, community contributions, and dedication to the CPA profession.
