International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board, Toronto, appointed three new board members: Mari Kobayashi, Japan; Hervé-Adrien Metzger, France; and Renée Pichard, Canada. Reappointed to the board were: Todd Beardsworth, New Zealand; Neema Kiure-Mssusa, Tanzania; Bernhard Schatz, Austria; and Marc Wermuth, Switzerland.

MASSACHUSETTS

Botkeeper, Boston, released “Botkeeper for Dummies,” a professional’s guide to the company’s methodology and platform, with a virtual book launch on Sept. 16. The book was co-authored by Botkeeper’s Jody Padar, VP of strategy; Byron Patrick, vice president of growth & success; Chris Mahl, president & CRO; and Enrico Palmerino, CEO and founder.

Carl Carande (pictured) was selected as the next global head of advisory at KPMG International, effective Oct. 1. He will succeed Mark Goodbum who has been in the role for nearly 10 years. Carande will also serve on the KPMG global management team, in addition to continuing his current role as vice chair - advisory for KPMG in the U.S.

Anthony Viola was hired as a director in the private client services group at Marks Paneth, New York.

Ryan Fuller and Dominic Razzano were promoted to senior associates at Lutz, Selig & Zeronda, Latham.

Prager Metis International, New York, launched a Latin entertainment group, led by director Maria Del Pilar Lopez, to extend the firm’s reach in the entertainment and music industry. In other firm news, Prager Metis announced its newest affiliate, PM Credit Management to help clients polish their credit and safeguard their data from cyber criminals.

Hoberman & Lesser, New York, announced the celebration of its 90th anniversary.

VIRGINIA

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam signed a proclamation recognizing Sept. 15–22, 2020, as Virginia CPA Week, recognizing the Virginia Society of CPAs’ ongoing efforts to promote the CPA profession in the state.

Hantzmon Wiebel, Charlottesville, celebrated Virginia CPA Week by supporting local causes. The firm used social media to encourage donations to the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Fund and the Emergency Food Network. The firm made a donation to the Heroes' fund to recognize Suicide Prevention Month and to honor the memory of Dr. Lorna Breen.
