People on the move: Aprio names chief growth officer

Weaver names partner-in-charge of restructured advisory services, Grant Thornton appoints CXO managing principal; and more personnel news.

CALIFORNIA

Gumbiner Savett, Santa Monica, announced six promotions: Helena Song and Joseph Ventura to audit and accounting principals; Vaibhav Tandon to senior audit manager; Adi Siah to senior tax manager; You Wan to audit senior associate; and Carlos Ubalde to business services supervisor.

GEORGIA

Lee Fields (pictured) was named chief growth officer and Marc Rosenkoetter was hired as director of advisory services at Aprio, Atlanta. Fields joined the firm in 2013 to lead the firm’s advisory services group and was promoted to partner in 2017.

Jeff Dorris was hired as director of the SALT practice at Mauldin & Jenkins, Atlanta.

NEW YORK

Hyun Ji (pictured) was hired as a tax director in the corporate tax group, specializing in corporate taxation, ASC 740, SEC reporting and SOX 404, at EisnerAmper, New York. In other firm news, Deborah Friedland, corporate finance managing director and head of hospitality advisory services, was named a 2019 Top U.S.A. Woman Dealmaker by the Global M&A Network at the U.S.A. Growth & Deals Intelligence in Washington, D.C.

Brian Sackstein was hired as a partner in the not-for-profit and health care practice groups at Prager Metis, New York City and Long Island.

Elizabeth Gousse Ballotte, principal at Grassi & Co., New York, was appointed to lead the grant compliance services team, which was added to Grassi’s NFP practice.

PENNSYLVANIA

Ryan Coccagna (pictured) was hired as a senior associate at Rotz & Stonesifer, Chambersburg.

Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz, Camp Hill, announced 10 promotions; in the Camp Hill office: Megan Grim and Scott Henry to manager; Cami Grimm to supervisor; and Kyle Bushong to senior staff accountant; in the Hanover office: Ashley Hershey to manager; Marcia Howe to supervisor; in the Lancaster office: Abbie Cawood to small business accounting services; in the Frederick, Maryland, office: Eric Dallavalle to manager; Ryan Harshman to supervisor; and in the Westminster, Maryland, office: Collins Lethbridge to senior staff accountant. Additionally, the firm hired Gabrielle Licata as an audit staff accountant.

John Stoner was promoted to senior associate in the Carlisle office, and Taylor Rote was promoted to supervisor in the Chambersburg office, at SEK.

TEXAS

Brian Thomas (pictured) was appointed partner-in-charge, advisory services, at Weaver, following the firm’s restructuring to combine its separate advisory practice groups — risk advisory, IT advisory, energy compliance services and financial advisory services — under Thomas’ leadership. Each group will continue to work under its leader, with Thomas leading coordination and strategic direction for the service line as a whole. Additionally, Neha Patel will now lead Weaver’s IT advisory services practice; John Wauson will lead risk advisory services; and David Rook, chief operating officer for assurance and advisory services, will continue to have overall responsibility for the service line.

WASHINGTON, D.C.

Tony Scardino was hired as the managing principal for CXO transformation services in the public sector practice at Grant Thornton. Scardino has served in leadership positions at multiple federal agencies and most recently served nine years as the chief financial officer and acting deputy director (chief operating officer) at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office within the Department of Commerce.
