People on the move: Grant Thornton names 61 new execs

Prager Metis hires its first chief success officer; Intuit promotes its accountant segment business leader; and other recent hires, promotions and personnel news from firms across the country.


Jacob Yau (pictured) was promoted to tax director at Hood & Strong, San Francisco.

Ariege Misherghi was promoted to accountant segment business leader at Intuit, Mountain View, responsible for driving overall accountant business strategy, product development, and delivery of professional accounting products and services to accountant and bookkeeper partners globally.

Ileana Salort-Horta was named a principal of MBAF, Miami, in addition to acting as chief operations officer of the firm.


Grant Thornton, Chicago, admitted 32 new partners and principals, promoted 29 to managing director, and named for new office managing directors. The 61 executives and office locations are listed here. The four new office managing partners are: Georgene Britz, Houston; Cathy Hyodo, Los Angeles; Brad Preber, Phoenix; and Kelly Schindler, St. Louis.


Upstream Academy, Helena, added two new partners: Jeremy Clopton and Georgia Cummings (pictured).

Betty Thomas, financial planner at Lassus Wherley, New Providence, earned the Chartered Financial Consultant professional designation.


Rob Quinn (pictured) was hired as business development director at Marks Paneth, New York.

Walter Brasch was hired as the first chief success officer at Prager Metis CPAs, New York, where he will work with the firm’s office and regional managing partners, and practice and industry leaders, to improve the growth potential of their business plans.

Jim Burton, partner-in-charge of audit methodology and standards at Grant Thornton, will serve as chair of the American Institute of CPAs’ Assurance Services Executive Committee.


Susan Fenwick was hired as a member of the business advisory group at Blackman & Sloop CPAs, Chapel Hill.

Mary Beth Koester was promoted to lead the business valuations team of Rea & Associates, Dublin, and Tim McDaniel was named managing director of the firm’s consulting division.


Boyer & Ritter CPAs and Consultants, Camp Hill, promoted 11 accountants, including: to supervisor, Zachary Boyd, Kyle Evans (pictured), Derek Heath, Chad Levan, Garrett Ofenloch, Jared Wolfgang, Brian Kutz and Scott Koman; and to senior associate, Christine Shontz, Emily Griffith and Jordan Sallavanti.


HHM CPAs, Chattanooga, promoted four senior managers to partner: Will Clegg, Jon Paul Davis, Adam Osborne and Branden Wilson.
