People on the move: Grant Thornton shifts CEO to emeritus

CALIFORNIA

Bill Pollatos, transaction services partner at Grant Thornton, Los Angeles, received an Emerging Leaders Award from The M&A Advisor.

CANADA

Jamie McDonald, Hubdoc co-founder, was named executive general manager of product, accounting and global services at Xero, Toronto. McDonald will continue in his role as co-CEO of Hubdoc, which Xero acquired last August. (Read the full story.)

ILLINOIS

Mike McGuire, current chief executive officer of Grant Thornton, Chicago, will be transitioning into a CEO emeritus role, the firm announced, where he will serve as a "brand ambassador" starting August 1, and the firm will be led by Bradley Preber as interim CEO-elect. Preber is currently chairman of the partnership board, which is searching for a more permanent CEO. (Read the full story.)

Tori Rueckert, an associate in the audit department at Maner Costerisan, Lansing, earned the Certified Fraud Examiner designation.

MISSOURI

Thomas Holton, partner in the forensic and litigation services group at Anders CPAs + Advisors, St. Louis, was appointed 2019-20 chair of the Missouri Society of CPAs.

Dominic Rovano, partner at Janover, received the 2019 Outstanding State-Wide Committee Chair Award from the New York State Society of CPAs in recognition for his work on the Employee Benefits Committee, presented at an event May 29 at the University Club in New York City.

Tim McPoland, director at Freed Maxick, New York, was named a member of the Standards Board of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts, Salt Lake City.
