George Serafin was named to the newly created role of national managing principal of industry at Grant Thornton, Iselin. In this role, Serafin will work closely with industry managing partners to execute strategy and create a consistent industry program and client experience across its practices. Serafin will also continue to serve as national managing principal of Grant Thornton’s health care/life sciences practice, and as regulatory and compliance services principal.


Anne-Marie Vitale, currently the International Accounting Education Standards Board deputy chair, was appointed chair of the IAESB, effective Jan. 1, 2019. Vitale succeeds Chris Austin, who led the IAESB over the last four years.

Jeffrey Minton, Office of the Chief Accountant’s Chief Counsel at the Securities and Exchange Commission, will be retiring from the agency in January after more than 20 years with the SEC, and more than half that time in his role in OCA.
