Trent Gazzaway was named national managing partner of quality and innovation services, a newly created role, at Grant Thornton, Chicago, where he will also serve on the firm’s senior leadership team. MISSOURI

Anders CPAs + Advisors, St. Louis, hired six audit associates and seven tax associates. Kendrick Coleman, a staff accountant in the entrepreneurial services group at RubinBrown, St. Louis, received the Southern Illinois University Emerging Saluki Leader Award, given to alumni of the SIU College of Business who have graduated within the previous 15 years and are deserving of recognition for their outstanding achievements in business, academia, government, nonprofit organizations or service to their community. The award was presented at the annual College of Business Homecoming Reception on Oct. 13.

VIRGINIA

Jennifer Lehman was appointed chief executive officer at Hantzmon Wiebel, Charlottesville. Lehman, who previously served as chief operating officer, is the first female CEO of the firm. She succeeds Phillip Shiflett, who served as CEO since 2007, and will continue to work with the firm’s clients on a full-time basis.

Deborah Walker, national director of compensation and benefits at Cherry Bekaert, received the 2017 Arthur J. Dixon Memorial Award, the highest honor in the area of taxation, bestowed by the Tax Division of the American institute of CPAs. The annual award is in honor of Arthur J. Dixon, a CPA with an outstanding record of service to the tax profession and the institute’s tax division. He was also chairman of the AICPA's Tax Executive Committee from 1977 to 1980.
