The National Association of Black Accountants announced NABA members that were appointed as advisory committee members for the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy: Felicia Farrar, to the Continuing Professional Education Committee; Sandra Gates to the Qualifications Committee; Teererai Mwaramba to the Behavioral Enforcement Committee; LaNita Ray to the Licensing Committee; Glenniece Stewart to the Peer Review Committee; and Dilliana Stewart to the Technical Standards Review Committee.

William Fritts, member of Smith Kearns & Co., was voted the No. 1 Accountant in the Tri-State area by Herald-Mail Media readers for 2017.

MINNESOTA

Karen Hudson was named chief sales officer at Grant Thornton, Minneapolis, to lead the firm’s sales enablement center of excellence and oversee the business development team.

MISSOURI

SOUTH CAROLINA

Catherine Heigel, former director of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, has returned to Elliott Davis, Greenville, as its chief operating officer. In 2013, Heigel joined Elliott Davis as general counsel and corporate strategies officer, and left in June 2015 for a period of public service.

Elizabeth Burnett was hired as an associate in the assurance and advisory services department at Scott and Co., Columbia.

TEXAS

J.D. Stotts was appointed chief information officer at Whitley Penn, Dallas. Stotts has more than 20 years of experience in information security, software development, infrastructure and operations, and will be responsible for Whitley Penn’s entire IT operation.

UNITED KINGDOM

Ana Maria Elorrieta was appointed to the board of trustees of the International Valuations Standards Council, London.
