Canopy adds AI tax prep features via integration with Filed

Accounting practice management solutions provider Canopy announced the addition of AI-powered tax preparation to its software platform, Canopy SmartPrep, through a new integration with Filed, which embeds tax preparation directly into the Canopy workflow. This release builds on Canopy's Smart Intake, which is used to collect documents and automate client reminders before tax work begins. The integration is currently being pilot tested and will be made available more broadly after the 2026 tax season. During the pilot phase, participating firms can initiate AI-powered tax preparation once Smart Intake (or any other tax intake workflow) is complete, review it for accuracy, and monitor progress without leaving Canopy. The initial launch will include basic and advanced 1040 returns, with expanded return types coming later in the year.

Top 100 firm Schneider Downs, via its digital solutions segment, announced the launch of LumenFI, an AI-driven finance companion designed to provide real-time, secure financial insights for organizations. LumenFI is said to operate as a virtual AI finance team, featuring dedicated roles for accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue and orchestration. Each role is designed to strengthen key finance functions and adapt to user prompts and preferences, delivering insights that reflect organizational priorities. By combining generative AI with machine learning, the platform learns from every interaction.

Ramp introduces live budget tracking

Financial operations platform Ramp announced Ramp Budgets, a real-time budget-tracking solution that uses AI to connect a company's financial plan directly to live spend, allowing finance teams and business owners to see how they are tracking against plan without relying on spreadsheets or manual work. Upload a budget and Ramp uses AI to automatically map every transaction (expenses, reimbursements, bills and purchase orders) to the right line in real time. Approvers can see how each spend request impacts their budget, as well as identify any trends or anomalies to ensure spend stays on track. Leaders get a real-time dashboard, alerts for high spending, and the authority to manage their own budget. Ramp added that its software will soon also use AI to help teams set the right budget based on historical spend and benchmarks in the industry.

Rillet adds automated transaction matching, other new features

ERP platform Rillet announced that users can now automate even more bank reconciliations by creating deterministic rules based on merchant names or transaction descriptions: instead of manually classifying recurring bank feed entries, the system automatically creates corresponding accounting entries—such as mapping "Rillet" to a "Software" account. The company also announced a new audit log UI that tracks who modified a contract and when, AI-driven invoice summaries, and the ability to locate specific journal entries by entering a JE ID directly into the universal search bar. Further, Flux Analysis is now a dedicated module under Close Management, which means Aura AI is now directly in the workflow to display and automate variance detection. There is also file upload and analysis with Aura AI, as well as audit logs for invoices with AI change summaries.

PrimeGlobal, an association of independent accounting and business advisory firms, announced the launch of its mobile app alongside significant enhancements to its My PrimeGlobal digital platform. The mobile app provides on-the-go functionality to do functions like access firm and people directories, profile management and direct messaging from mobile devices, as well as event details for conference attendees, including updated agendas, session information and event social feeds. The desktop platform now includes a social media-style homepage that highlights the latest updates, discussions and insights from communities; dedicated community hubs; the ability to multi-select search filters so users can find colleagues by region, expertise or shared interests; direct messaging; and improved visibility of member activity and expertise.

The new ACH solution unifies ACH data, applies real-time behavioral analytics and enables self-service rule creation to accelerate fraud detection. Transaction-level case consolidation, optional account verification and customer confirmation, and monitoring of ACH origination and receipt activity further streamline reviews, reduce false positives and support evolving Nacha fraud-detection expectations.

Audit Toolbar announces Pro edition

Audit software company Audit Toolbar debuted a new Pro edition. It features an automated and unified data cleaning function that will clean, structure and organize any general ledger extract from any accounting software platform; an automated workflow that produces a risk-weighted journal entry report by ranking higher-risk transactions in a single procedure; and an evidence-based matching function that uses proprietary "Search and Switch" technology to retrieve and convert source PDFs and automatically match and verify them against sampled or tested Excel data.
