Gusto launches solution for the 'solopreneur'

Payroll solutions provider Gusto released Gusto Solo, a platform designed specifically for solopreneurs who want to scale up past the side hustle stage. It features an S corp tax savings calculator that helps users identify and make sense of tax savings opportunities through the S corp election; a calculator to ensure users are paying themselves a "reasonable salary" to stay compliant with IRS policies; an automated payroll feature; a compliance hub that provides a dedicated dashboard for S corps; and a contractor payments solution to help onboard and pay contractors through Gusto's contractor payments solution.

Travel and expense solutions provider Expensify announced new capacities for its Expensify Travel offering. The platform now supports central billing, event management and enhanced employee itineraries. Central Billing lets users pay for all travel on a central company card, or configure cards per team. Companies can choose what's paid by card: flights, hotels, cars, and/or rail; automate expense categorization and reconciliation. Users can gain real-time visibility into bookings and expenses. Event Management allows users to share custom travel booking links for offsites, conferences and more. The system will track RSVPs from the Expensify Travel dashboard. It automates attendee booking within a company's travel policy. Companies can set and update rules for individuals or entire groups; use templates for recurring events like candidate visits; and centrally track and bill group travel expenses. The new Employee Itineraries feature lets users automatically group bookings by trip in the Expensify app; enables administrators to book on behalf of others, with automated expense routing; and displays flight, hotel, rail and rental car details in a single view.

Avalara joins U.N. committee on e-commerce and postal services

Tax automation solutions provider Avalara has been selected to join the United Nations Universal Postal Union's Consultative Committee. With its 192 member countries, the UPU is the primary forum for cooperation between postal sector players to ensure a universal network of up-to-date products and services. The Consultative Committee provides a platform for private-sector entities, including logistics providers, technology companies and customs representatives, to contribute to the modernization of the postal ecosystem. As a member of the Consultative Committee, Avalara will collaborate with CC members to support regulatory modernization, develop best practices for data exchange and digital customs clearance, and advocate for inclusive, tech-forward solutions that serve both emerging and established markets.

Top 50 firm Schellman announced that Marci Womack, the managing director of the firm's federal practice, which oversees the emerging Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification assessment program, has been appointed to Cyber AB's inaugural CMMC Third-Party Assessment Organizations Advisory Council. The newly established Council is composed of executives and leaders from Authorized C3PAOs, and all Council appointees are CMMC Certified Assessors. The 11-member body will provide feedback and recommendations to Cyber AB to improve assessment processes and strengthen clarity across the CMMC ecosystem. As one of the selected members, Womack will serve a two-year term, collaborating with other industry leaders to address critical topics such as accreditation, assessment guidance, external services and the CMMC Assessment Process.

PayQuicker launches same-day ACH

Business payment platform PayQuicker has expanded its real-time payout capabilities and is now offering same-day ACH transfers for payees based in the United States. PayQuicker's same-day ACH feature will be available for select users across its key verticals, including gig economy, affiliate marketing, direct selling, clinical trials and other industries that require timely, secure payments. Same-day ACH enables organizations to deliver participant payments that settle within the same day. It is the latest addition to the company's real-time payout ecosystem, which already includes instant payments to cards and digital wallets. The company previously announced similar capacities for the U.K. and the E.U. 

New partnerships and integrations

AP automation solutions provider DataServ announced its official integration partnership with Penta, an ERP platform for construction firms. This collaboration delivers a solution that connects Penta's construction-specific accounting capabilities with DataServ's AP automation platform. … Accounting firm network CPAmerica, Inc. announced that Blue J, a generative AI solution for tax research, is now the Preferred Provider for the association. CPAmerica member firms partnering with Blue J will now have access to its tax research platform. Blue J joins over 70 other CPAmerica Preferred Providers. … Accounting automation solutions provider InterVal penned a strategic partnership with IG Wealth Management. The agreement recognizes the two companies' longstanding relationship: over the last year, IG advisors have been providing business clients with direct access to its interVal software platform, which, in turn, enhances the ability of IG advisors to assist business clients with the creation, management and protection of their wealth. … Cryptocurrency accounting solutions provider Ledgible announced a collaboration with Brale, an issuer and infrastructure provider in the stablecoin ecosystem. Through the partnership Brale leverages Ledgible's attestation and reconciliation infrastructure to validate reserves, offer transaction-level traceability, and provide transparency in satisfying both regulatory requirements and institutional demands. With Ledgible embedded in the process, Brale's stablecoin offerings add real-time attestation pipelines and audit-ready transparency.
