Wolters Kluwer Tax and Accounting (TAA) announced a pair of new features for its CCH AnswerConnect tax research platform. The first update is a generative AI-based summarization tool, which lets users generate a summary of any secondary source document, with the ability to ask follow-up questions, allowing users to get to the heart of complex information without having to read through every word. The second is a kind of meta-tool: a directory that is used to discover and access research tools by topic and use case, from smart charts and checklists to calculators, flow charts, and client letters, with the idea being that users can access new resources and solutions that they may not have previously known existed.

Bad data

AI-powered workflow automation solutions provider fileAI launched its V2 platform, designed to help enterprises and SMBs access, collect and structure business data trapped in unstructured formats, siloed systems and disconnected databases. Users can parse, extract and classify data from diverse file types, including contracts, images, free text, invoices, financial statements, legal forms and more with accuracy, with the AI handling variations in layout, language and handwriting. The software also automatically detects discrepancies, clause variations and anomalies across documents for compliance, risk and due diligence. The platform also sports an Answer Engine that lets users query, chat and extract insights across multiple documents using internal data and relevant web context. It also features a secure document repository with access controls and integrations with Google Drive, Dropbox and APIs. The company said the product has an MCP-ready architecture and flexible self-service pricing starting at $0.

API

Document management and e-signature solutions provider Foxit announced its new Foxit APIs, letting developers and others access Foxit's solutions to do things like embedding advanced document capabilities directly into their applications, customer portals and digital workflows. Previously, users were taken out of the platform (e.g., PDFs opened in a new tab, downloaded locally, or relied on the browser's default viewer), but now developers can offer a no-plugin viewer that can be controlled entirely via JavaScript. Further, developers previously needed to manually create document templates and write scripts to populate them from databases or user inputs, often resulting in inconsistent formatting and limited scalability, but with new API access they can generate formatted contracts, letters and more directly from JSON or form data using predefined templates.
