J.H. Cohn Combines with Frederic Kantor

Accounting firm J.H. Cohn has combined practices with Frederic Kantor & Co., a Manhattan-based accounting firm serving high-net-worth individuals and families working in entertainment and the creative arts.

The merger, effective immediately, comes on the heels of J.H. Cohn's combination with Good Swartz Brown & Berns in Southern California (see J.H. Cohn to Merge with Good Swartz Brown & Berns). No cash was exchanged in the business combination, according to marketing director Amy Koeppl. The merger with Kantor will expand Cohn's presence in the New York metropolitan area. Kantor's staff, which includes one partner and 35 professionals, will relocate from their current location to Cohn's New York headquarters. Kantor will operate under its original name, but as a division of J.H. Cohn.

"Frederic Kantor & Co. is a perfect complement to J.H. Cohn's core values, and the capabilities and talent we've gained enhances our ability to provide the highest level of partner-level service and personal attention to our clients in the entertainment and creative arts industries," said Robert DeMeola, managing partner of J.H. Cohn's New York office, in a statement.

J.H. Cohn ranked 15th on Accounting Today's list of the Top 100 Firms of 2008. The firm had annual revenue of $221,371,000 in the fiscal year ended Jan. 31, 2008.
