Accenture Sees 3Q Rise in Profits

   

Hamilton, Bermuda (July 15, 2002) -- Consulting giant Accenture Ltd. posted a 9-percent increase in its third-quarter earnings, to $114.5 million, for the period ended May 31.Net revenue for the company based here remained basically flat at $2.98 billion. The company said it saw sustained growth in its government services unit. However that was tempered by a plunge in revenue from its financial services division.

Earlier this week, the firm said it was laying off 1,000 employees in the United States, United kingdom and Australia. The cuts would affect primarily managers and the total represents roughly 1 percent of the company’s workforce.
