Accenture to Trim 1000 Jobs

   

Hamilton, Bermuda (July 10, 2002) --Consulting conglomerate Accenture Ltd., said it would slash some 1,000 positions -- just over 1 percent of its entire workforce.The company said the cuts will be primarily management posts in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.

A company representative said that despite the cuts, Accenture -- the former Andersen Consulting -- would add 8,000 employees at its fiscal year-end, which begins Sept. 1.

Accenture is due to report its third-quarter earnings Friday.
