Accountant Version of Peachtree Part of Overall Vertical Strategy

Orlando, Fla. (June 3, 2003) -- Going vertical is all the rage among business management software makers and Best Software has joined the party with a new version of its Peachtree accounting software, designed specifically for accountants.

Peachtree Premium Accounting -- Accountants' Edition is the first of several yet-to-be-announced vertical products and serves as the delivery vehicle for an overall vertical strategy for Peachtree products.

Best announced the new product –available later this month – and briefly mapped out its vertical market plan here at its Insights Conference.

“We researched and surveyed accountants in our network and realized the limitations of our standard Peachtree product,” said chief executive Ron Verni. “Quite simply, we put in the specific features and functions that will help them just as we will for the other verticals we will target.”

The new product will have the ability to set up, open and edit clients' data from any Peachtree 2004 product, potentially saving accountants time and hard drive space. It will also have company consolidation, compensation management, and advanced budgeting features in addition to Crystal Reports and six months of free access to Peachtree Web Accounting.

Peachtree Premium Accounting --Accountants' Edition will be available at $499.99 for a single user and $999.99 for multiple users.

Other vertical markets in the company’s crosshairs, for the foreseeable future, include manufacturing, distribution, and non-profit organizations. Many yet-to-be-determined vertical-centric products are likely to come about through future acquisitions.
