Accountants Mike Karlins and Glea Ramey have purchased the Woodlands, Texas office of UHY Advisors TX and opened an independent firm, Karlins & Ramey LLC, CPAs.
Karlins & Ramey will continue to collaborate with UHY on larger clients, but will provide more cost-effective arrangements for privately held business clients in Houston and Montgomery County, according to Ramey.
Fellow accountants and staff members joining them include Sherri Bell, Andrea Correa, Ginger Henley, Angela Francis, Jessie Meredith, Jeff Optiz, Melissa Rall, Conchita Reyes, Chuck Rittenhouse, Lisa Story, Jay Tompkins and Mary Jo Venuti.
The arrangement became effective Jan. 1. Although Karlins & Ramey is no longer formally affiliated with UHY, it will still be sourcing work back and forth, according to a spokesperson. The firm provides accounting, tax, business advisory and financial planning services for clients.
