Accounting Association Creates Social Network

The American Accounting Association has launched AAACommons, an online social network and member community.

The community offers the AAA's 8,000 members a virtual place to socialize while keeping up with accounting news, trends and regulations. The online community allows university professors, researchers, and accounting professionals who work with the AAA to share resources, establish personalized research and teaching spaces, and take advantage of profile information to find colleagues and experts.

For university faculty, AAACommons provides a space to exchange class syllabi, teaching tips and assignments. For professionals and researchers, the community offers the opportunity to discuss accounting techniques, collaborate on research papers and build their support networks.

The site is built around HiveLive's LiveConnect technology, which offers building blocks, or hives, that can be configured as a blog, wiki, forum or custom application. The building block approach will allow AAACommons to evolve as its membership expands.
