Adaptive Planning Adds Multidimensional Planning

Adaptive Planning has released version 6.0 of its eponymous product, with new multidimensional business financial planning features and integration with NetSuite.

The new Cube Sheet feature in Adaptive Planning 6.0 allows business users to create and use financial models with up to 10 dimensions in order to simplify planning with large volumes of data. Sales executives and product managers will be able to use the feature to make volume and price assumptions for multiple geographies, product lines, customers, product SKUs, time periods and other dimensions.

The NetSuite integration in Adaptive Planning 6.0 allows companies to connect the two Web-based applications, map dimensions and accounts, import and export actual and plan information, and navigate between the applications. Users can identify plan-versus-actual variances in Adaptive Planning reports, isolate the organization and account responsible for the variance, and drill through into NetSuite to view the actual transactions underlying the variance.

In addition to the release of Adaptive Planning 6.0, the company is also introducing a new benchmarking initiative to help companies improve their financial and operational management, create more informed plans and forecasts, and enhance their competitiveness. Consisting of two new offerings, a Client Benchmarking Service and an Industry Trends module, the new initiative will allow finance organizations to compare their company’s historical performance against industry metrics, and provide an aggregate view of their peers’ future performance expectations and plans.

The Client Benchmarking Service provides both backward- and forward-looking financial and operational metrics information for clients that opt-in to the program. Delivered as a quarterly report, the service will allow companies to understand how their actual profitability, productivity, and other metrics relate to their peers, and provide visibility into how their future forecasts and plans compare.

The new Industry Trends module will be part of Adaptive Planning’s Financial Best Practices Community. Available in July, the module will allow Adaptive Planning customers and other members of its online community to explore historical trends in the financial metrics of their peer group, based on industry, company size and geography. The module contains five years of data for over 10,000 midsized companies across all industries in the U.S.
