The American Institute of CPAs announced on Wednesday the three high school student winners of the 2017 "Bank On It" tournaments, held live at various conferences earlier this year.
An online interactive game, Bank On It tests accounting students’ knowledge of fundamentals and basic real-world scenarios that are commonplace in the profession. The game features more than 1,000 questions on topics including public accounting, business and industry, and nonprofit accounting. All questions are reviewed by CPAs. Incorrect answers generate explanations to provide a more classroom-like environment.
“Bank On It is a great, interactive way for high school teachers to get their students excited about the accounting profession,” stated Joanne Fiore, AICPA vice president of professional media, academic and student engagement. “On behalf of the AICPA, I’d like to congratulate the winning students on their accomplishment. They demonstrated an impressive level of knowledge about the accounting profession at an early age.”
The three 2017 Bank On It tournament winners are:
- Joseph DiBetetto (New York) finished first in a tournament of 64 at the Future Business Leaders of America Conference in Anaheim, Calif.
- Eric Jimenez (Florida) beat out participants from 16 schools to win the tournament at the National Academy of Finance NEXT Conference in Dallas, Texas.
- Bryson Lyons (Idaho) placed first among 64 players at the Business Professionals of America Conference in Orlando, Fla.
