AICPA Honored for Small Business Work

The American Institute of CPAs received a citation of excellence from the Internal Revenue Service for its work with the agency in assisting small business taxpayers.

The citation was presented to the AICPA at the annual National CPA/IRS Tax Issues Meeting in Washington on Nov. 2. Kevin Brown, commissioner of the Small Business/Self-Employed Division of the IRS, presented the award.

The certificate of appreciation was presented for "outstanding team effort in delivering products, services and education to the Small Business/Self Employed customer."

The citation commended the AICPA for its leadership in "significantly" contributing to the launch of the IRS's disaster relief pilot, noting that it was the first national practitioner organization to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the IRS to provide assistance to taxpayers at local disaster recovery centers.

Other programs in which the AICPA is an active participant include Tax Talk Today, the Small Business Payroll and Practitioner Forums, and the Nationwide Tax Forums.
