Maui, Hawaii (Oct. 24, 2002) The American Institute of CPAs has awarded John E. Hunnicutt, senior vice president of public affairs, with its Medal of Honor. The award was presented to Hunnicutt, who will retire from the institute at the end of this month after 11 years, here at the AICPA's Fall Council meeting by awards committee chairman J. Mason Andres. Andres noted that the award, which is given to non-CPAs, has only been bestowed eight times in 21 years.

"My relationship and camaraderie with members of the profession will never be forgotten," Hunnicutt said during a luncheon in his honor.

In addition to his role as the AICPA's point man on Capitol Hill, Hunnicutt has been responsible for the institute's initiatives in relations with the state CPA societies, academic affairs and career development, minority initiatives, women and family issues, and public relations and communications.
