AICPA Names Senior VP for Strategy, People and Innovation

Lawson Carmichael has joined the American Institute of CPAs as senior vice president for strategy, people and innovation.

Carmichael will lead the institute's strategic planning activities and oversee the Office of Strategy Management and the human resources team, as well as taking responsibility for leading market research and product and services innovation.

"I am pleased to welcome Lawson to the AICPA," said president and CEO Barry Melancon. "His strong leadership and extensive experience make him uniquely qualified to head our business strategy initiatives and oversee our human capital management."

Prior to joining the institute, Carmichael worked for Big Four firm Deloitte as director of corporate strategy. He also held a number of strategy and innovation leadership positions. Before his work at Deloitte, Carmichael served as managing director for Proxicom, a global e-business consulting firm, and as a senior director at Premier Inc., an alliance of health care providers delivering strategic consulting and supply chain solutions.

Carmichael holds a Bachelor's in Communications from Towson University and a Certification in Financial Management from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.
