AICPA, Partners Unveil New Disaster Preparedness Guide

The American Institute of CPAs, the AICPA Foundation, the National Endowment for Financial Education and the American Red Cross have launched a new, broad-based disaster preparedness and planning guide for consumers.

"Disasters and Financial Planning: A Guide for Preparedness" outlines steps that the public can take before disaster strikes to minimize any financial impact, and also provides guidance on the financial considerations of an evacuation plan.

The new guide expands on a previously publication, "Disaster Recovery: A Guide to Financial Issues," which was issued in 2003 by the AICPA, the AICPA Foundation, the NEFE and the American Red Cross.

The guide will be distributed for free by local Red Cross Chapters across the country. An online version of the guide is also available at www.redcross.org/financialplanning.
