Alpern Rosenthal Merges with Cass, Levy & Leone

CPA firm Alpern Rosenthal said it is merging with Cass, Levy & Leone in an effort to expand from its Pittsburgh base to Florida.

Cass, Levy & Leone has offices in West Palm Beach and Stuart, Fla. CLL's 30 employees will give Alpern Rosenthal a total of more than 240 employees.

Alpert Rosenthal will retain its name after the merger, and the Florida firm will be known as Cass, Levy & Leone, an Alpern Rosenthal Co., at least initially.

Besides expanding its territory, Alpern Rosenthal expects the deal to increase its expertise in areas such as business valuation and litigation support, construction, medical, real estate and financial services. The merger will also add expertise in the hospitality industry and family office services.

Alpern Rosenthal has been growing, adding 40 employees to its Pittsburgh office in the past year. This is the firm's second merger. In 1999, it merged with Kaplan Sipos & Associates in Pittsburgh to build its business valuation and litigation support practice.
